The Team

A quick glance at “How to run a Festival” will show some of the many jobs that need to be addressed.

Many of these are looked after by members of the Committee, under the chairmanship of Richard Barlow.
We meet about 6 times a year and we are always on the lookout for new members of this key body.  You will have jobs to do – but they are not arduous.
To enquire about this, mail secretary@skiptonmusicfestival.co.uk or ask any committee member.  Contact details for the committee officers are on the Contacts page

During the Festival, we need lots of Stewards.
At any one session, we need around six folk to welcome, to assist the adjudicator, to look after the performers on stage – or even just make some coffee!  With about 18 sessions to staff, that’s around 100 slots to fill!  Many people do several stints and the Air Cadets are a great help but we always have space for those who would like to give a hand; maybe just for a morning or an afternoon.  Again, email secretary@skiptonmusicfestival.co.uk

There are several people who help us Financially.  Without them, we could not survive.

  • There is a small group of Friends.  That involves no great commitment of time and for their contribution, they get free entry to Festival events and a programme.
  • There are Advertisers.  Advertisements in the programme put your name in front of a very sympathetic audience.
  • Sponsors go a step further.  For their extra contribution, we display their logos on the platform and in the foyer as well as printing their advert and a “thank you” in the programme.  Visit here to find out more about advertising or sponsoring.

A crucial part of the whole process is, of course, you!  Whether you are a performer, bringing your skills or a parent/carer, encouraging (and transporting!) your musicians or one of the group of dedicated teachers who are the bedrock of the amazing quality of music-making that we see at the Skipton Festival, without you, we would be nothing.

Thank you
